About NUNA Founder + CEO
Ricki McCarroll is the Founder + CEO at NUNA Consulting Group LLC – a community engagement and social impact firm specializing in serving historically unserved and underserved communities. Born and raised in the Los Angeles Beach Cities, she spent over 10 years in Washington, DC serving policy-based organizations at the national level.
Ricki comes from a diverse fourth culture background both personally and professionally. She spent most of her childhood with her Korean grandmother. Ricki studied Korean, Chinese, and Japanese language and culture under her grandmother’s tutelage and went on to formally study during high school and university. During her childhood, Ricki also gained an extended family from the Navajo Nation, spending summers in the Four Corners learning about Navajo culture the traditional way – the watch and learn technique. Continuing her education, she studied Hawaiian language and culture through the traditional hula school, Hula Halau `O Lilinoe, and now serves on the board and dances with Hula Halau `O Kahealani.
She formerly served as the Director of Member Services & External Affairs and Chief of Staff at the Native American Contractors Association (NACA), Digital Account Executive at Spectrum Science Communications crafting traditional and digital communication strategy for local, national and global clients in consumer health, diabetes, oncology, women’s health, children’s health, neurology, health care systems, pharmacology and biotechnology, and Executive Assistant to the Executive Director at the National Indian Gaming Association (NIGA).
Ricki is alumnae of California State University, Chico where she holds a bachelor’s degree in Journalism, and a minor in International Relations. She is also a sister of Alpha Pi Omega Sorority, Inc., the first Native American Greek organization, and is a member of Council for Korean Americans (CKA) and a 2023 CKA NetKAL XII Fellow.
